A site for the erection of a new Garda station at Tramore near the railway station was acquired from Coras Iompair Éireann in 1962. It transpired, however, that the site is located in an area which Bord Fáilte Éireann wish to have developed for recreation and amusement purposes and both they and the Waterford County Council have represented that the Garda station should be built elsewhere. In the circumstances, negotiations were initiated with the county council and Bord Fáilte with a view to the provision of a suitable alternative site. It has not so far been found possible to procure such a site but every effort is being made to bring the matter to an early conclusion.
