As was indicated in a statement issued on my behalf by the Government Information Bureau on 15th October, I have decided to set up a special body to deal with a number of questions relating to drugs, including the question of adverse reactions and the clinical testing of new drugs before they are released for general use, and to furnish advice generally on the question of drug safety.
The necessary steps in connection with the establishment of this body are being taken by my Department.
Will they be asked to go slow in order to comply with the Taoiseach's indications yesterday as to the position of health and education?
In view of the fact that a body without undertaking such work could rely on the advisory bodies in England, America and the Continent, does the Minister not think that it is an unnecessary expense for such a small country?
