Vol. 219 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballymun Pedestrian Crossings.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange for a pedestrian crossing at Ballymun Road-St. Pappin's Road, and Ballymun Road-Ballymun Avenue-Collins Avenue, Dublin having regard to the heavy volume of traffic at both these locations.

The provision of pedestrian crossings is a matter in the first instance for the local authority concerned at the request, or with the consent, of the Commissioners of the Garda Síochána. The matter comes before my Department only when a grant towards the work is sought. Approval has been given to the provision of a zebra crossing on Ballymun Road at St. Pappin's Road and traffic light signals at the junction of Ballymun Road/Ballymun Avenue/Collins Avenue.

I understand that arrangements are being made by the Corporation for their installation.
