Vol. 219 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Huts.

63.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will ensure that forestry huts are properly insulated and that heating is provided during cold weather conditions.

Forest shelters are intended for intermittent use for short periods when work is interrupted due to inclement weather. The majority are constructed of timber and all practicable steps are being taken to improve their insulation. It is not practicable to instal fires in them nor is it proposed to do so.

Does Leinster House come into that category?

64.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will ensure that a hut is provided on all forestry jobs lasting longer than one week.

Portable shelters are provided as necessary on sites on which work is in progress for short periods. The Department is prepared to investigate any individual case in which the adequacy of the shelter provided is questioned.
