I am informed by the ESB that it is not a fact that many Board workers have been laid off in the Manorhamilton area of County Leitrim but that 12 casual workers were laid off in the normal course in September, 1965 on completion of the post-development extensions in the Kiltyclogher rural area.
It is understood from the Board that work on connecting new consumers was interrupted to have urgent repairs carried out to the networks which were extensively damaged by the November storms. Gangs which were diverted to carry out these repairs have now resumed normal work.
