Vol. 220 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment in Local Government Department.

35.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether any persons are employed in his Department in a permanent or temporary capacity as private secretaries or personal assistants who were appointed otherwise than by open competition under the auspices of the Civil Service Commissioners; and, if so, if he will state the name and address of each such person and his salary, duties and terms and duration of appointment.

The unestablished position of Private Secretary to the Minister for Local Government is an excluded position for the purposes of the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956. The holder is Mrs. F.M. Cassidy. Her salary is £1,280 per annum. Her duties are those normally attaching to the post of Private Secretary to a Minister. The terms of appointment are those applicable generally to temporary civil servants in the clerical classes. The duration is indefinite.
