asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Southern Committee of the Cork County Council applied for a loan of £65,000 from the local loans fund for a number of water supply and sewerage schemes at 24 different locations throughout the South Cork district; and that notification has now been received from his Department that the proposed loan of £65,000 has been reduced to £35,000; and if, in view of the serious consequences of this reduction, he can now reconsider his decision.

The amount of loan sanctioned was related to the number of schemes which the county council estimated would be carried out in the present financial year. The application in relation to the balance of the loan is under consideration.

Question No. 59 postponed.

60.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he expects to sanction the loan necessary for the implementation of a piped water supply scheme from Killenaule to Cooldine and Kilrennall, County Tipperary; and if, in view of the urgency of the matter, he will expedite this sanction.

I am not in a position to state when the loan in question will be sanctioned.

61.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he expects to give approval to the revised report and estimate for the Knockgraffin infill water supply scheme, County Tipperary.

The revised report, drawings and estimate for this scheme are at present under examination in my Department. I am not in a position to say when approval will issue.

62.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will recommend the extension of the Sligo water supply from Carrowroe national school, County Sligo to serve three families in the immediate vicinity as far as Bretts opposite Carrowroe Catholic church on Ballygawley Road.

I am informed by Sligo County Council that as the existing extension at Carrowroe has adversely aflected the borough water supply, their proposals for this further extension cannot be implemented at present. I understand, however, that the matter will be further considered at the next meeting of the county council.
