Vol. 220 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sheep and Lamb Exports.

99.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will state for 1965 (a) the total number of store sheep and lambs exported to the United Kingdom, (b) the total number of store sheep and lambs in the United Kingdom in receipt of deficiency payments, (c) the total deficiency payments on store lambs and sheep made by the United Kingdom, and (d) the average deficiency payment per head.

Official trade statistics for last month are not yet available but total exports of store sheep and lambs to the United Kingdom during the year 1965 are estimated at 192,000. Provisional UK figures show that in 1965 deficiency payments were made by the British Government in respect of approximately 9.6 million sheep and lambs.

The information requested at (c) and (d) of the question is not available.
