Vol. 220 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Courts.

101.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has yet reached a decision on the request that a Circuit Court should sit at Dún Laoghaire and that there should also be a separate District Court for Dún Laoghaire; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As indicated in my reply of 30th November, 1965, the examination of the request will take some considerable time and I am not in a position at this stage to say when a decision on it is likely to be reached.

Can the Minister say if he has received a resolution from the Wicklow Bar Association on this and also if he will have discussions with representatives of solicitors practising in the area as well as the Garda authorities?

I have had the resolution from the Wicklow Bar Association and I intend to have discussions with the solicitors concerned.

The Minister is aware that there is considerable confusion at present in that some adjacent areas are in two district court areas and, in fact, two circuit court areas as well?

As regards the district court area, the difficulty is that it will involve a complete rearrangement of all the district court areas but that is being examined at the moment.

Question No. 102 postponed.
