Vol. 220 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Service Extension.

50.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that NCOs and men serving in the Permanent Defence Force who have made application for extension of service are being refused such extension; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I indicated on 25th January, 1966, in reply to a question by Deputy Ryan, an examination has been made of certain cases of personnel of the Permanent Defence Force in which there was a history of unsatisfactory service, for the purpose of deciding whether extensions of service in these cases would be granted. Extensions of service have, in fact, been refused in very few cases.
