Vol. 220 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry SDA Loans.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that Kerry County Council are at present informing applicants who are fully qualified for loans under the SDA Acts that, although they are accepted for loans, there is no guarantee of their getting the loans until the finance is available to the council; and if he will take steps to ensure that finance for SDA purposes is sanctioned for Kerry County Council.

I understand from the council that the position is substantially as stated by the Deputy. On the general question of finance for house-purchase loans, I would refer the Deputy to my reply of 9th instant to Questions Nos. 22 and 23 asked by Deputy Coughlan.

On 15th December, 1965, an application was received from the council for approval to a loan of £50,000 from the Local Loans Fund for the making of house-purchase loans. This application is at present under consideration. I hope to be in a position to give a decision to the council shortly.
