Vol. 221 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Daily Closing of Valuation Office.

25.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware of the inconvenience caused by the close down of the Valuation Office each day from 12.30 to 2 p.m.; and if he will consider curtailing such closure to one hour, if not less.

I appreciate that the closing of the Public Office of the Valuation Office each day from 12.30 p.m. to 2 p.m., like the closing of business and other premises for the lunch-break, may cause some inconvenience, though no complaint has heretofore been received in regard to the Valuation Office. The lunch-time closing period was deliberately introduced because the limited service given to callers during those hours did not justify the staff time involved. I do not consider that any modification of existing arrangements is warranted.
