Vol. 221 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork School.

55.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the dilapidated condition of Derinagree national school, County Cork; and if he is prepared to have some urgent repairs carried out in the near future.

Preliminary arrangements for the erection of a new school at Derinagree are in hands. In the meantime, I have asked the Commissioners of Public Works for a report as to the works required to keep the present building in a serviceable condition until the new school has been provided. Arrangements for the execution of these works will be made as soon as possible.

Is the Minister aware that this school could have been replaced a long time ago, were it not for the fact that the reverend manager could not get a satisfactory site?

That is correct.
