Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Airport Feeder Services.

5.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether arrangements have yet been completed by Aer Lingus for the operation of an adequate feeder air service into and out of Shannon Airport; and, if so, if he will give details of this service, including the number and frequency of flights and the points to be served.

Aer Lingus have completed arrangements for the extension of the air service between Dublin and Shannon to provide better connections for the services of foreign transatlantic airlines at Shannon. The additional service, which will be operated with Viscount aircraft, will commence on 27th April, 1966, at a frequency of four round-trips weekly. It will operate at a daily frequency during the period 23rd May to 31st October, rising to a frequency of eight round-trips weekly during the peak period 6th June to 8th October. Accommodation on the Dublin-Shannon and Shannon-Dublin sectors of the Aerlinte transatlantic services will continue to be available. These latter services, operated with Boeing jet aircraft, will provide a frequency of nine flights weekly rising to 23 flights weekly from Dublin to Shannon during the westbound peak period, and eight flights weekly rising to 21 flights weekly from Shannon to Dublin during the eastbound peak period. The usual Aer Lingus services between Shannon and London, Shannon and Manchester and Shannon and Paris will also operate in the summer season 1966.
