Vol. 221 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Prices of Store Bullocks.

27.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the average price paid for store bullocks at Dublin sales on Tuesday and Wednesday 8th and 9th February, 1966 compared with the same week in 1965.

Average prices for store bullocks at Dublin sales are not compiled. The range of prices for such bullocks at Dublin Cattle Market on 8th and 9th February, 1966 was 140/-to 173/- per cwt liveweight as compared with 162/- to 196/- per cwt in the corresponding week of 1965.

In view of the depressed state of the cattle trade at present and the fact that many farmers cannot sell store cattle, has the Minister anything in mind or does he intend to do anything? Can he get any further markets for those people at present or does he see any future for them?

I do not agree that the trade is depressed.

Cattle are down £1 per cwt on the Minister's own information.
