Vol. 221 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electrification in South Kerry.

3.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of applicants for connection to the ESB supply in South Kerry; and the number who refused supply because the installation charges were too high.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that it is not possible to give information in the exact form in which the Deputy asks for it. There are about 12,000 rural householders in South Kerry and of these about 9,100 or about 76 per cent had been connected to the supply at 31st March, 1965. In the majority of cases there is no formal application for supply; the initiative is taken by the ESB in the course of a canvass or recanvass.

The ESB does not keep records of the reasons why householders refuse supply.
