asked the Minister for Finance if the Government have borrowed any money from State companies within the past 12 months.

In accordance with normal practice, the Exchequer has borrowed during the past 12 months money which was surplus to the immediate requirements of State companies, and has repaid this to the companies as required.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary state from what State companies the money was borrowed during the 12 months?

I have not got that information.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary state the amounts?

I have not got that information. The Minister is in the Seanad.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Government have borrowed money from bodies other than State companies within the past 12 months.

The answer is in the negative.

11.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) the amount of money borrowed by the Government outside the country within the past 12 months, and (b) the source of the borrowing and the amount.

The only borrowing by the Government outside the country within the past 12 months was a drawing of £8.03 million from the International Monetary Fund.

Negotiations for the issue of a £7 million Sterling/Deutschemark Loan on the International Bond market are in course of completion.
