andMr. Barry asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of each of the commissions and interdepartmental committees referred to in a reply of 1st March (1) the purpose for which it was set up and (2) when it is expected that it will issue a final report.

The information requested in respect of one Commission and two interdepartmental committees referred to in the reply of 1st March is as follows:

Commission of Inquiry on Mental Illness.

(1) The Commission was set up (a) to examine and report on the health services available for the mentally ill and to make recommendations as to the most practicable and desirable measure for the improvement of these services and (b) to consider and report on changes which they regard as necessary or desirable in the legislation dealing with the mentally ill (other than the legislation dealing with criminal lunatics and with the estates of persons under the care of the High Court or the Circuit Court).

(2) A final report is expected later this year.

Interdepartmental Committee on Care of the Aged.

(1) The Committee was set up to survey the services provided for the aged and to make recommendations regarding the development and co-ordination of these services in future.

(2) A final report is expected during the current year.

Committee on Child Welfare Clinic Services and School Health Examination Service.

(1) The Committee was set up to undertake a comprehensive review of the Child Welfare Clinic Service and the School Health Examination Service.

(2) A final report is expected towards the end of this year.

andMr. Barry asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of each of the commissions and interdepartmental committees referred to in a reply of 1st March (1) the purpose for which it was set up and (2) when it is expected that it will issue and final report.

Commission on Higher Education:

The Commission was set up to inquire into and to make recommendations in relation to university, professional, technological and higher education generally.

It is expected that the Report of the Commission will be available this year.

Interdepartmental Committee on School Building:

This is a continuing consultative committee to advise on matters relating to each year's school building programme. It does not issue formal reports.
