Vol. 221 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Warble Fly Treatment.

39.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware that before cattle are exported a spot check is made to ensure that they have had warble fly wash treatment; and that, as no pens are provided at some frontier posts, it is a great hardship on importers to catch and hold the cattle for inspection; and, if so, if he will instruct preventive officers to accept a certificate of warble fly treatment for such animals at such posts.

Checking of cattle exported across the land frontier is kept to the minimum consistent with ensuring that the provisions of the Warble Fly Order, 1965, are complied with.

From the inquiries I have made, I do not think that any particular hardship is involved.
