Vol. 221 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Insurance of Warable Fly Eradicators.

33.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if warble fly eradicators are insurable under the Social Welfare Acts.

When warable fly eradicators are employed under a contract of service and are aged between 16 and 70, their employment is insurable under the Social Welfare Acts. Where any question arises as to whether a contract of service exists in any particular case it is a matter for decision by a deciding officer, or, in the event of any appeal against his decision, by an appeals officer.

There are a number of appeals in the Minister's Department at the moment awaiting decision. Has the Minister given any decision?

I am not aware of any appeals.

The appeals have been sent to the Department and the Department of Agriculture.

Am I not right in saying that warble fly inspectors have been floating about this country for about a quarter of a century?

These are different people.

These are new warable fly inspectors? I thought they were the old Fianna Fáil cumann secretaries?

We got rid of the warble fly, which the Deputy did not.

(Interruptions.)

These are described as warable fly eradicators.
