Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment Statistics.

4.

asked the Taoiseach the total number of people at work in 1951 and in 1965.

The total number of persons at work in 1951 was 1,217,000. For 1965, the total was estimated at 1,050,000.

Does the Taoiseach realise there are almost 160,000 people fewer at work, despite the promise of 100,000 new jobs? Where are the 100,000 jobs when there are 160,000 people fewer at work than there were 15 years ago? That is another embarrassing question the Government do not seem to be answering.
