Vol. 222 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Minimum Rent Charge.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government what minimum rent can be charged by a local authority to a small farmer (name supplied) of five pounds valuation on land who is an ex-TB patient, and who normally would be entitled to a TB room.

It is understood from the county council that the case referred by by the Deputy is being dealt with under the scheme for the rehousing of farmers with land valuations not exceeding £5 and that his application for a grant under section 3 of the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1946, is not being proceeded with.

It is a matter for the housing authority to decide the minimum rent to be charged in any letting made under the scheme, subject to compliance with the Housing (Management and Lettings) Regulations 1950 and 1953, and the Local Government (Rates on Small Dwellings) Act, 1928.
