Vol. 222 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valuation of Holdings.

10.

asked the Taoiseach (a) the poor law valuation of land in the buildings officially classed as agricultural, and the total number of such holdings, and (b) the total poor law valuation of the various buildings on such holdings differentiating, if possible, between residence and farm buildings.

Particulars of the numbers of agricultural holdings are collected in connection with annual Agricultural Enumeration. The 1960 Enumeration was the latest in which particulars of valuation were sought. The total rateable valuation returned in that year was £8.0 million in respect of 358,500 holdings. This total covered land and all buildings. Separate figures for the rateable valuation of land were not obtained in the Enumeration. However, the rateable valuation of all land outside of County Boroughs and Urban Districts is known to be £6.9 million.
