asked the Minister for Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the remarks reported on the 24th March, 1966, to have been made by a judge in the Dublin Circuit Court regarding the cost of demolition of premises by Dublin Corporation; and if, in view of the hardship caused in this case, he will make a statement.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Demolition of Premises.
34.
I am aware of the reported reference to hardship by a judge in recent court proceedings in relation to demolition of certain dangerous buildings in Dublin city and I am asking Dublin Corporation for a report on this matter. I will communicate further with the Deputy.
I understand the method of assessing compensation is laid down in the 1919 Assessment of Compensation Act. Would the Minister consider bringing that Act up to date?
Without checking on that, I do not agree that what the Deputy has said is so. If I find that any changes are necessary, they will be made. In the meantime, I am seeking from the corporation a full report of the circumstances.
Will the Minister keep my question in mind?
I certainly shall.
