Vol. 222 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Accidents in South Tipperary.

74.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that in recent months a number of serious and fatal road accidents have taken place both in South Tipperary and in other areas owing to the presence of straying animals on the public road; and what steps he intends to take to remedy this situation.

I am aware that a number of accidents are caused by the presence of unattended animals on the roads and I take this opportunity to remind animal owners of their duty in this regard.

The Commissioner Garda Síochána has issued fresh instructions to the Force on the enforcement of the road traffic law and the problems created by animals on the roads have been singled out for special mention.
