Vol. 222 No. 7

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 4 and 5 and in No. 5, Votes 40, 35 and 36.

The Taoiseach, in replying to a supplementary question of mine yesterday, implied that I was a member of an illegal and subversive organisation, which is completely untrue. I would like him to retract——

I am well aware that the Deputy is trying to straddle the fence and has a foot on both sides of it.

I say it is completely untrue.

(Interruptions.)

Will the Deputy please allow me to speak? The Deputy did not give me any notice that he proposed to raise this matter and therefore I cannot allow any discussion on it. He gave me no notice whatever.

I take exception to the Taoiseach's latest remark.

The Deputy should have given me notice as a matter of courtesy.

I give notice now.

I do not think the Taoiseach should be flippant about this. He was merely being mischievous yesterday. He knows that Dr. O'Connell is not associated with this illegal organisation.

They are rather touchy these days about these things.

Not merely these days.
