The increase in the additional grant for general purposes for 1966-7 in the case of each of the Colleges of the National University included provision for an increase of 15 per cent in salaries to the academic and corresponding administrative staff with effect from 1st April last. No specific amounts were earmarked for this purpose in the grants to the Colleges. It may be stated, however, that the total estimated annual cost of increases on this basis for the three Colleges is £185,000.
