Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reduction in Special Allowance.
21.
A special allowance is an annual sum of such amount as, when added to an applicant's yearly means, will not equal or exceed a prescribed sum. In the case referred to by the Deputy the prescribed sum was reduced from £146 to £120 with effect from the 16th January, 1966, the date on which the applicant became eligible for a non-contributory old age pension. The reduction in the prescribed sum involved a corresponding adjustment in the rate of the special allowance.
