Written Answers. - Social Assistance Payments.

41.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the years ended 31st March, 1959 to 1965, inclusive, the amount paid in social assistance under the heading non-contributory old age pensions in respect of each of the seven means categories and the amount paid in respect of pensioners with (1) no qualified child, (2) one qualified child, (3) two qualified children, and (4) more than two qualified children.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the years ended 31st March, 1959 to 1965, inclusive, the amount paid in social assistance under the heading children's allowances in respect of (1) first, (2) second, (3) third, (4) fourth, (5) fifth, (6) sixth, (7) seventh, (8) eighth, (9) ninth, (10) tenth child and (11) other children.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the years ended 31st March, 1959 to 1965, inclusive, the amount paid in social assistance under the heading unemployment assistance, distinguishing amounts paid in urban and other areas, in respect of (1) persons without dependants, (2) persons with an adult dependant only, (3) persons with an adult dependant and one child dependant, (4) persons with an adult dependant and two child dependants, (5) persons with no adult dependant and one child dependant, (6) persons with no adult dependant and two child dependants, (7) third child, (8) fourth child, (9) fifth child, (10) sixth child, (11) seventh child, (12) eighth child, (13) ninth child, (14) tenth child and (15) other children.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the years ended 31st March, 1959 to 1965, inclusive, the amount paid in social assistance under the heading non-contributory widows' pensions in respect of widows (1) without children, (2) with one child, (3) with two children, (4) with three children, (5) with four children, (6) with five children, (7) with six children, (8) with seven children, (9) with eight children, (10) with nine children, (11) with ten children, and (12) with more than ten children, showing in each case how much is payable in respect of the widow herself.

45.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the years ended 31st March, 1959 to 1965, inclusive, the amount paid in social assistance under the heading non-contributory orphans' pensions in respect of each means category.

A breakdown of expenditure under the headings in the questions is not available in my Department. It is not possible, therefore, to furnish information regarding expenditure on social assistance in the form requested.
