As I informed the House in reply to a question on 28th June, 1966, an examination of transport using road and rail is taking place in my Department. In the course of that examination, all aspects of existing road transport legislation will be considered, including unladen weights and areas of operation of licensed hauliers. I do not propose, at present, to seek wider statutory powers to regulate these matters.
