Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Commissioners Act.

30.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the name and address of the person who is his personal secretary, the date of his or her appointment, why and at whose request the Civil Service Commissioners made an order exempting the person from the provisions of the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956, the duties of the personal secretary, the salary, allowances and emoluments of the post, and the number, rank and title of the other members of the staff of his office.

The name of the person referred to in question is Miss U. M. Colivet. Miss Colivet was appointed to the position on 18th August, 1966. The Civil Service Commissioners were requested, with the authority of the Minister for Finance, to make an order excluding the position from the provisions of the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956, so as to facilitate the transfer of Miss Colivet from the Department of Education where she had previously held a similar position. Miss Colivet's duties are such as may be assigned by me from time to time as appropriate to the appointment. Her total remuneration is £959 per annum. The other staff of my Office comprises:

1 Higher Executive Officer (Private Secretary), 1 Executive Officer, 1 Clerical Officer and 2 Clerk-Typists.

31.

The Order mentioned in the question extends the period of a previous Order relating to the unestablished position of female clerical assistant and refers to the following persons, all of whom have been employed in my Department for a number of years on routine clerical duties—

Violet D. Clendining, Monkstown ; Kathleen Cullen, Fairview; Ann M. Harty, Drumcondra; Nora M. M. Hynes, East Wall; Sarah A. M. Rogers, Monkstown.
