Vol. 225 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Heating of Ballymun Scheme.

121.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if Dublin Health Authority may make cash payments to Dublin Corporation in respect of the cost of heating housing accommodation occupied by persons who formerly qualified for free turf while living within the city boundary, having regard to the fact that the Ballymun housing accommodation has no facilities for burning turf sods; and if the State will contribute towards such cash payments.

It is open to the Dublin Health Authority to assist persons in the Ballymun housing schemes, who may need help in the form of public assistance, to meet the cost of heating. There is no statutory authority for payment of a State contribution towards the cost of public assistance of this kind.
