asked the Minister for Local Government whether, in the case of the large amount of property purchased on behalf of a foreign development company in the Moore Street area, Dublin, his Department are informed of the plans of the development company; whether his Department foresee any complications arising from the activities of this development company; and whether there are any Irish nationals on the board of the company.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he anticipates the publication of Dublin Corporation's plan for the area bound by the Quays, Capel Street, Parnell Street and O'Connell Street; and whether this will include any proposals for the demolition of buildings in the Moore Street or Parnell Street area.

Under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, the Corporation, in common with other local planning authorities, is obliged to promote necessary renewal and redevelopment in obsolete areas within their jurisdiction. A pilot urban renewal project affecting properties in the area referred to, which was prepared by a Consultant, has been under consideration by the Corporation for some time in consultation with interests in the area. I understand that the preparation of a development plan for renewal in the area bounded by O'Connell Street/Henry Street—Mary Street/Capel Street//Parnell Street is under consideration. I cannot say when this plan will be made or precisely what properties would be affected, but the law requires that the plan be publicised in draft form and that any representations received be taken into consideration by the Corporation. In the Consultant's report the greater part of the west side of Moore Street was included in the area recommended for redevelopment. As regards Parnell Street my information is that the frontage will be substantially affected by projected road improvement.
I have no information about the company referred to. Any plans there may be for private development in the area are a matter for consideration by the Corporation as the responsible planning authority.
