Vol. 225 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Estate.

91.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will indicate the up-to-date position regarding the allotment of the Charteris Estate, Cahir, County Tipperary; what lands have been allotted from this Estate; and to whom they have been allotted.

Of a total of some 816 acres acquired by the Land Commission on this estate, 427 acres have been disposed of to date. Details of the portions of the estate disposed of otherwise than by way of allotment for agricultural purposes were supplied to the Deputy in reply to a question by him on 23rd June, last. Allotments made in the ordinary way for land settlement purposes comprise——

98 acres by way of a holding for a local migrant and two parcels for smallholders who surrendered part of their existing lands in exchange; 46 acres by way of enlargements to three smallholders and 4 acres consisting of ten small accommodation or amenity plots, including a plot of 3 roods, the site of Cahir Castle, which was made available to the Office of Public Works.
