Vol. 226 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leasing of Government Offices.

42.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give particulars of all the premises occupied by Government Departments in Dublin city and county which are not held in fee simple, giving in the case of such premises the office area, the occupying Department and the term of years for which each has been leased.

The information requested is being compiled and will be supplied if the Deputy repeats his question in three weeks' time.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary tell me what is the difference between that question and the question he answered untruthfully on 14th December from Deputy O'Leary?

No question was answered untruthfully to begin with, and the other difference is that in the case of the question tabled by Deputy Sweetman, about 100 premises have to be considered and the floor space calculated. If it were possible to compile the reply earlier, there would be no reason at all to delay the answer.

My question is exactly the same as the other one but the other one was not answered truthfully.

If the Deputy will look at both, he will discover it is not the same question at all.

They are exactly the same question but the Minister in the first reply chose to interpret the word "person" contrary to the Interpretation Act.
