asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he has received a request to meet a deputation from the County Leitrim Tourist Development Association; and, if so, if he is prepared to meet them.

The County Leitrim Tourist Development Association recently asked me to receive a deputation to discuss the expansion of tourist development in that county.
I explained to them in reply that under the Tourist Traffic Acts the provision of financial assistance for tourist development is entrusted to Bord Fáilte, that I do not intervene in regard to the allocation of funds between particular areas and that it would be most undesirable that I should make an exception in the case of any particular area.
I am satisfied from discussions held at regular intervals with the Board of Bord Fáilte that the funds for area development, accommodation and other purposes are being allocated to the areas of tourist interest on a reasonable and fair basis.
The Association should take up their problems with the North-Western Regional Tourism Organisation and with Bord Fáilte, as appropriate, from whom, I am satisfied, they will receive all possible assistance.
For the foregoing reasons, I do not consider that it would be either useful or appropriate for me to receive the proposed delegation.
