Vol. 227 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Telephone Applications.

13.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (a) the number of applicants awaiting telephone connection in County Meath, (b) if the connections are being made according to the date of application, and (c) if so, when it is expected that applications made in 1966 will be cleared.

The number waiting is 275, including 105 cases in course of provision. The general rule is that applications that fall into the priority categories are attended to as they are received. Other requests are deferred pending the next general clearance of the area. Subject to this, connections are, as far as practicable, made in order of date of application. About a third of the applications made in 1966 have been dealt with or are in course of provision. It is expected that the remaining applicants will be offered service in the present year.
