Vol. 227 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Common Market Duties on Irish Textiles.

96.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the present levy and tariffs applicable to Irish manufactured textiles entering Common Market countries.

The member countries of the European Economic Community are not yet applying a unified external tariff but are moving to it from their individual tariff positions. The tariff at present applicable to any particular class of Irish manufactured textile goods exported to the EEC country would, therefore, be the rate applicable to such goods in the national tariff of the country concerned.

The Deputy will also appreciate that the term "textile" covers a very wide range of tariff positions.
