Vol. 227 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Training of Disabled Persons.

97.

asked the Minister for Labour if it is intended to make provision under the Industrial Training Act to train disabled persons; and if such persons will also have the services of a placement officer.

There are provisions in the Industrial Training Act, 1967 which will enable An Chomhairle Oiliúna—the training authority to be established under the Act—to arrange for the training of disabled persons.

The National Organisation for Rehabilitation, a semi-State body established by the Minister for Health, operates a special placement service for the disabled, and the Placement Service of my Department will be cooperating with that Organisation with a view to providing effective placement facilities for disabled persons.

Did the Minister draft that question himself?

No. I know it appears suspicious to the Deputy.

In anticipation of the Bill which is in train through the House.

There are certain defects in the Bill.
