Vol. 227 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transfer of Social Welfare Stamps.

132.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware of undue delay in having the transfer of stamps for social welfare applicants carried out by the British Ministry of Insurance and Pensions from Britain and Northern Ireland; and if so, if he will try to have the matter remedied.

I am not aware that, in general, undue delay occurs in the transfer of records of contributions from the British and Northern Ireland Ministries where such transfers are necessary for the purpose of making payments to applicants for benefit under the Social Welfare Acts. The Deputy will appreciate that for reasons outside the control of the Ministries concerned delay may occur in individual cases. I am satisfied, however, that everything possible is done in all cases to expedite the transfer of records of contributions.
