I travelled to the USA last month in connection with the work of Córas Tráchtála and the Industrial Development Authority. I was also the guest of the Mayor of Chicago at the St. Patrick's Day celebrations in that city.
In New York I visited Irish food promotions in a number of leading stores and in Los Angeles I opened the first fashion show ever held in that city for Irish women's fashions; a number of Irish manufacturers were exhibiting at the show.
I had discussions with groups of bankers and industrialists in different cities about Ireland's industrial potential and the advantages of Ireland as a location for export industry. In addition, I had discussions with some individual manufacturers.
And were the streets all painted green?
