asked the Minister for Local Government (a) the total number of farms in Ireland under £20 PLV on land; (b) the rates paid on these farms in each county during 1966-67 and the total rates paid; (c) the average rates paid; and (d) the amount it will cost the Exchequer to honour the commitments of this year's Budget for 1967-68.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farm Rates.
The total number of rated land holdings with valuations of £20 or less is 318,667. I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report, a tabular statement giving the rates leviable in each county on farms of £20 land valuation or less in 1966-67. The total of such rates was £1,230,233 and the average net rates leviable in 1966-67 would amount to £3 17s 3d. The estimated cost to the Exchequer of the reliefs announced in the Budget in respect of 1967-68 is £1.6 million.
