Vol. 228 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Cottage.

18.

asked the Minister of Local Government if he is aware of the long delay on the part of Dublin County Council in providing a cottage on the nominee site offered by a person (name supplied); and if he will direct the local authority to proceed with the building of this dwelling pending the eventual arrival of water supply to the area or on the basis that the existing supply is sufficient to justify the erection of this much-needed accommodation.

No proposals have been submitted to my Department in this case. I understand from Dublin County Council that they have had an offer of a cottage site from this person under consideration for some time, but that no decision has been made yet to accept the site because of difficulty in providing a potable water supply. While I am having further inquiries made to the council as to the course of action proposed in this case, it is a matter for them, in the first instance, to decide whether or not to proceed with the building of a cottage.
