Vol. 228 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Dutch Cabbage.

8.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware that a shipment of cabbage has arrived in this country from Holland and is being retailed in County Donegal at 6d per lb. to the detriment of local cabbage growers; and, if so, if he will prevent such imports in future.

I am not aware of any such import. A licence from my Department would be required for the import of cabbage from Holland and no such licence has been granted.

The position appears to be misunderstood in that home-grown cabbage of a type known as "Dutch" or "Flat Dutch" is on sale in County Donegal.

Question No. 9 postponed.
