Vol. 228 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Road.

9.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the dangerous condition of Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock, County Dublin, he will investigate the delay in the preparation and implemention of plans to place this avenue in a roadworthy condition.

The preparation and implementation of plans for the improvement of Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock, is a matter primarily for the road authorities concerned, that is, Dún Laoghaire Corporation, and Dublin County Council. Dún Laoghaire Corporation, who are the road authority principally involved, accept that the road has a number of substandard features and have proposals under consideration for the elimination of those features. Certain properties have been acquired by agreement and arrangements are being made for the preparation of a compulsory purchase order to acquire additional properties where negotiations have been unsuccessful.

The corporation also propose to undertake a joint scheme with Dublin County Council in regard to the section of the route which adjoins and lies within the administrative area of the county council.
