Vol. 228 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Westmeath Postal Service.

8.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if it is possible to arrange that outgoing post from Tyrrellspass, County Westmeath will be collected both morning and afternoon and also that there will be an evening delivery to the post office which can be collected by addressees themselves if they so desire.

The mail arrangements at Tyrrellspass, which provide for a morning delivery and an afternoon collection of mails, are in accordance with the normal service provided in rural areas.

The extra services requested would not be warranted by the small amount of correspondence involved.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary not provide that people could collect their own mail if they went for it in the evening?

So little use was made of this facility that it was decided to discontinue it.
