Vol. 228 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Housing Schemes.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government what is the present position regarding the proposed housing scheme at Moness, Speenoge PO, County Donegal.

29.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding proposals to erect new housing schemes at Killea, Carrigans, Burnfoot, Carndonagh and Moville, County Donegal.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 28 and 29 together. I understand from Donegal County Council that plans are being prepared by them at present for a scheme of nine houses at Moness, that steps are being taken by them to acquire housing sites in each of the other areas named by the Deputy, and that detailed surveys are to be carried out shortly in these areas to ascertain present housing needs.

Will the Minister assure the House and indicate to me that when application is made by Donegal County Council, the money will be forthcoming so that the local authority can get on with the housing programme and not find themselves in the position of being blamed by the Fianna Fáil members of the council for the housing delay when, in fact, that responsibility rests surely and squarely on the Minister's desk?

That does not arise on this question.

There is no difficulty in this regard now.

Surely, a Cheann Comhairle,——

It does not arise on this question.

I bet that Deputy Cunningham is beginning to feel the draught.

Next question.
