Vol. 228 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry County Hospital.

74.

asked the Minister for Health the present position in relation to the proposal to build a new county hospital in Tralee, County Kerry; and the number of surgical beds which it is proposed to provide in the new hospital.

There has been a number of discussions between officers of the health authority and my Department regarding the siting and the accommodation to be provided in the new hospital. Negotiations for the acquisition of a site are at an advanced stage. It has been agreed that the surgical and psychiatric departments of the hospital would be provided as a first stage in the new undertaking.

The proposals of the health authority regarding the number of surgical beds to be provided are at present the subject of discussion.
