Vol. 228 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clifden Driving Test Centre.

4.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider the setting up of a driving test centre in Clifden, County Galway, as great inconvenience and expense is caused by the present necessity to travel the 50 miles to Galway for such tests.

I do not propose to establish a regular driving test centre in Clifden. The tests must in general be carried out in the larger centres of population where a reasonable road network exists and where varied traffic conditions are experienced. Tests are, however, conducted in Clifden for drivers of slow moving vehicles such as agricultural tractors and mopeds.
