Vol. 228 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cashel Hotel.

12.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is yet in a position to give a decision, or to make a statement on the question of planning permission for a new hotel at Cashel, County Tipperary, proposed as a result of the public meeting which took place at Cashel town hall about a year ago.

I have now issued my order determining the planning appeal submitted to me against the grant by Tipperary (SR) County Council of outline permission for the building of a hotel at Palmer's Hill, Cashel.

I have upheld the appeal and have refused the outline permission. My decision on the appeal was influenced by the definite assurance by Bord Fáilte that an alternative site is available in the immediate vicinity of the appeal site which would be equally suitable for hotel purposes but would not interfere with amenity.
